As you may know, everyone, including our dental school, has prioritized donating PPE to the medical centers. The school is only keeping a 1-week supply for our use in dental emergency cases with the rest going to UW Medical; however, what many may not realize, is that, our school has been asked by the medical centers and the state to remain open to treat any dental emergencies to reduce the burden to medical centers,  which places our faculty, residents, students, and staff equally on the front lines daily at extremely high risk, due to the nature of aerosol-generating dental treatment.
Due to the PPE shortage, we are now being asked to “re-use” any masks unless they become contaminated.
On behalf of the dental school, I would greatly appreciate it if your guild and/or sister guilds would consider donating some “mask covers” to our school to help preserve our very short supply? And/or could you please refer me to another potential donor?
Our sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone in the community
