Washington Stars Quilt Guild
Presidents' Blocks

Being guild co-presidents is quite an undertaking.
Guild members appreciate the time, effort and dedication it takes to lead our guild in all aspects of the office.
As a Thank You gift to out-going Presidents,
each member is asked to create a quilt block to contribute to a memory quilt.
Out-going Presidents often have a specific size or style in mind,
see below for their requests.

  Sharon Welsh
Sharon would prefer a Tip, Trick, or Cool idea in place of a president's block.  Sharon has been our guild president prior to her 2021-2022 term and has made one president's quilt.  There are so many clever ideas, tools, methods, and websites available we should be able to fill her beautiful box.  Put your information for a Tip, Trick, Tool, or Cool idea on a piece of card stock or something that can be adhered to card stock (not two sided printing), provide your name, and place in the box for Sharon.  You can also give your completed idea to Jayne' Nelson or mail to WSQG PO Box 1223 Olympia, WA  98507.  Please return by the November Meeting.
Cory Plantenberg
Cory would like 6 1/2" blocks.  She would like each square to tell her something about the maker.  It could be a Novelty print depicting something that you like to do; a technique that you enjoy; or just a square that makes you happy!  Cory would like you to please sign your 6 1/2" block.  When completed, please give to Anne Sparks.  Thank you!

Anne Sparks

Anne would like a 6 1/2”, 9  ½” or 12 ½” star  block (any star design). Primary colors (red, blue , and yellow) or secondary colors (Purple, green and orange) can be used. Batiks, solids, or prints will be fine.  Just make a star block that will remind her of you and please sign it.
Please get your blocks to Jan Goebel or mail them to:
WSQG PO Box 1223, Olympia, WA 98507

by June 30, 2021.

6 ½ inch block (finishes to 6-inch block)

Make your favorite star block with light colored batik for the star portion of the block and dark colored background (Purple, blues or dark green batik). Give your block to Barb Ridgeway. She’ll have a pen for you to sign the star.

Please have them completed and given to Barb by the December Meeting.

2016 and 2017
Dorna Bullpitt
Dorna will provide a lime green fabric to be used in her 6 1/2" unfinished block. Please add white and/or black to complete the block.  The block should in some way have a star, either in the black and white fabrics or in the design. The preferred combination is to use all three colors but, you could use black and lime green or white and lime green – so long as the lime green is in the block. You may use a design and method of construction of your choosing. Please sign the front of your block avoiding the ¼-inch seam allowance*. Collected by Jerri Thomas at the March 6, 2018 Business Meeting or before.

Denise Rutter-Lang
Denise will provide a batik fabric to include with other fabric(s) of your choice in an 8 1/2" unfinished block. You may use a design and method of construction of your choosing. Sign front of block avoiding the ¼-inch seam allowance*.  Collected by Sally Harrington at the March 6, 2018 Business Meeting or before.

*Please use color fast ink, and iron your signature to set it.
